Director's Note
As the world awakens from its winter slumber, we're thrilled to welcome the arrival of spring to our beloved nature center! It's a time of renewal, growth, and boundless beauty waiting to be explored.
With each passing day, the air is filled with the sweet scents of blooming flowers, and the landscape transforms into a tapestry of vibrant colors. From the cheerful song of Eastern bluebirds to the gentle rustle of leaves, spring beckons us to step outside and embrace the wonders of the natural world. It also reminds us of the beauty and resilience of our planet.
As members of ourPeace Valley Nature Center Community, you play a crucial role in preserving and celebrating this remarkable place, and your support continues to make a difference in preserving and celebrating the environment around us.
Whether you're eager to wander the trails, participate in educational workshops, or simply bask in the warmth of the sun, there's something for everyone to enjoy this spring.
Staff have been busy behind the scenes these past few months. We will wrap up the Master Trail Plan in the coming weeks, the Signage & Wayfinding Project is well underway, and a Stormwater Management Plan will begin shortly. Combined, these projects will help create well-marked trails that are better maintained, more accessible, and provide increased educational and interpretive opportunities. It's a holistic approach to our continued efforts to improve our facility and natural areas.
We've schedule and exciting event with our friends at the County Theater in Doylestown. On April 10th, they will host a screening of "2040", adocumentary that explores the very real possibility that humanity could reverse global climate change and improve the lives of every living thing in the process. The film will be followed by a Q&A session with a panel of community leaders who are working towards a more sustainable and joyful Bucks County and will the positive changes happening right now in our community – and how you can get involved. Be sure to get your tickets - link found below.
Our volunteers are making a difference! We partnered with Master Watershed Stewards to plant over 300 native trees and shrubs at a recent event. American Sycamore, Silky Dogwood, Red Osier Dogwood, Ninebark, Spicebush, Black Willow, and Elderberry were planted by 23 volunteers as part of our Riparian Buffer Zone project. Want to get involved? More volunteer opportunities are scheduled this spring!
Volunteering isn't just limited to the great outdoors. Volunteers inside the Visitor Center are equally invaluable and serve as ambassadors to the public. Contact Kirstyn Gudknecht if you'd like to learn more about this important role.
Finally, don't forget to attend the Annual Meeting on Saturday, April 13th at 10:30am, followed by a presentation by Kathy Salisbury from the Ambler Arboretum and Temple University. There's no need to RSVP for the meeting, however, registration is required for the presentation.
Thank you for your continued support, and here's to a season brimming with beauty and possibility!
See you on the trails,

The Eastern Bluebird: A Fascinating Journey Into Avian Parenthood
As spring blossoms and nature awakens, so starts the nesting season of one of the most delightful birds at Peace Valley Nature Center - the Eastern Bluebird (Sialis sialis). With their vibrant blue plumage and cheerful songs, these small birds bring joy to birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts alike. However, beyond their beauty lies a fascinating story of parenthood and perseverance.
