Director's Note
Dear Friends of Peace Valley Nature Center,
As the vibrant days of summer unfold, I am thrilled to share with you some exciting updates and initiatives happening at our beloved Nature Center.
Summer Camp Adventures
Our Summer Camp kicks off this week and it will be a joy to see so many young explorers discovering the wonders of nature. From hiking trails to engaging with our Teacher Naturalists, the children will immerse themselves in environmental education and foster a deep appreciation for the natural world. We still have a few spots available for the remaining sessions, so if you know any young nature enthusiasts, please spread the word! Our hands-on, engaging activities will ensure a rich and educational experience for all campers.
Supporting Our Mission: Donations Needed
Our work at the Nature Center is made possible through the generous support of our members and donors. As we continue to expand our programs and maintain our facilities, we rely on your contributions more than ever. Your donations enable us to provide educational programs, maintain our trails, and care for the diverse flora and fauna that call our center home. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a significant impact. Please consider making a donation today to help us continue our mission of environmental stewardship and education.
Exciting Building Renovations
Major renovations to our Visitor Center began June 3. These improvements include a new roof, gutters, insulation, and HVAC. The project is moving along nicely and we hope to be up and running by the end of the month. During this renovation period, the building, restroom facilities, seed shed, and access to the bird blind will be closed. We appreciate your patience and support as we work to create a more engaging and welcoming environment for all our visitors.
Thank you for being a part of our Peace Valley Nature Center family. Your continued support and enthusiasm are what make our community strong and vibrant. We look forward to seeing you when we reopen later this summer, whether you’re dropping off a camper, attending an event, or simply enjoying the beauty of our natural surroundings.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. Thank you for your continued support, and we can't wait to see you again soon!
See you on the trails,
Kelly Joslin

WELCOME SUMMER INTERN MAKENZIE NASKA!
Makenzie has a lifelong interest in nature, particularly raptors, fungi, plants, and watersheds. She is studying Environmental Science with a focus on Wildlife and Conservation Biology, and minors in Anthropology and Geology at Southern New Hampshire University. During her internship, she'll work on our Traveling Naturalist program, and wants to enhance her environmental education knowledge and community connections.
We're so close to our goal! Will you help us reach it? This campaign will help restore and enhance a vital community resource that promotes outdoor recreation, environmental education, and wildlife conservation. Your contribution will help repair and improve the trail, ensuring safe and enjoyable access for all visitors while protecting the natural habitats of local flora and fauna. Together, we can preserve this cherished green space for future generations to explore and appreciate.
Fireflies, also known as lightning bugs, are one of nature's most enchanting insects, captivating people with their bioluminescent displays on warm summer nights. These glowing beetles, belonging to the family Lampyridae, are not only a delight to watch but also play a crucial role in the ecosystem.
