July at Peace Valley Nature Center

Summer is one of the best times to experience Peace Valley Nature Center. The trails are alive with recently fledged songbirds, butterflies, dragonflies, blooming wildflowers, and countless opportunities to slow down and connect with nature.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our inaugural Twilight 5K Run & Nature Walk! With 483 registered participants, the event was a tremendous success and a wonderful celebration of community and conservation. We appreciate everyone who helped make the evening so memorable.

This month, there are plenty of ways to continue the adventure. Registration is open for select Fledgling Flock Summer Nature Camps, offering hands-on outdoor experiences for young naturalists and their caregiver. Families can also explore the ancient world during Nature Discovery Day: Rocks, Relics & Fossils and visitors of all ages are invited to participate in our growing community science projects by helping document butterflies, caterpillars, and invasive plants found throughout the preserve.

We hope you'll join us this July and discover something new every time you visit. See you on the trails!

Save the Date: 10th Annual Fall Harvest Sampler

Mark your calendars for one of Peace Valley Nature Center's most anticipated events of the year! The 10th Annual Fall Harvest Sampler will take place on Friday, September 25, 2026.

This special evening celebrates the flavors, beverages, and community spirit of Bucks County while supporting Peace Valley Nature Center's mission of environmental education, conservation, and stewardship. Guests will enjoy tastings from local restaurants, breweries, wineries, distilleries, and specialty food vendors, along with live music, raffles, and opportunities to connect with fellow supporters of the Nature Center.

Last year's event was our most successful yet, and we're excited to celebrate this milestone tenth anniversary with an even bigger and better evening. Additional details, sponsorship opportunities, and ticket information will be announced later this summer.

Find Your Wild: Summer Missions Are Here!

A huge thank you to everyone who participated in the Spring Find Your Wild challenge! More than 150 teams explored the trails, completed nature-themed missions, discovered local wildlife, and created lasting outdoor memories. Congratulations to The Senior Sleuths, winners of our Spring Grand Prize Raffle!

The adventure doesn't stop there—Summer missions have officially dropped! Discover an all-new collection of seasonal challenges featuring butterflies, dragonflies, fledgling birds, turtles, fireflies, summer wildflowers, community science, and much more. Whether you're joining for the first time or continuing your journey, there's always something new to discover.

Volunteer or Become a Community Scientist

This Summer!

There are more ways than ever to make a difference at Peace Valley Nature Center. If you enjoy working alongside others, join our dedicated volunteers as a Guest Greeter, assist with habitat restoration, help maintain trails and gardens, or lend a hand at special events. Whether you have a few hours or can volunteer regularly, your efforts help preserve the Nature Center for wildlife and future visitors.

New! Become a Community Scientist

You can also contribute to conservation whenever you visit by participating in our new iNaturalist Community Science Projects. Using the free iNaturalist app, you'll help us collect valuable data that guides habitat management and restoration efforts.

This summer, you can:

• Document butterflies, moths, & caterpillars to help us better understand pollinator diversity and seasonal activity.
• Map invasive plants along the trails, including invasive vines, shrubs, grasses, and flowering plants, helping staff identify priority areas for removal and native habitat restoration.

Curious how it works?

Stop by the Nature Center on Saturday, July 18 or Sunday, July 19, anytime between noon and 3:00 p.m. for a free drop-in introduction to iNaturalist and our new Community Science projects. Staff and volunteers will demonstrate how to use the app, explain each project, and help you get started so you can begin contributing during your very next hike.

No scientific experience is needed—just your smartphone and a sense of curiosity. Every observation contributes to real conservation efforts at Peace Valley Nature Center.
